What is the ProCarCare Reference Library?
If you want to learn more about your car and how to take care of it, ProCarCare’s Reference Library is the place to look. Here, you can read current automotive Feature Articles, find out about how your vehicle works and maintenance and repair procedures in the Car Care Encyclopedia, learn the meaning of automotive terms in our Glossary of Automotive Terms and read reviews of recommended books in the ProCarCare Bookshelf. You can also buy automotive books online through our direct links. To access the Reference Library, click on the Reference Library link in the navigation bar at the left side of your screen.
Browsing current automotive Feature Articles
ProCarCare’s Feature Articles will help to keep you in the know about all things automotive – from learning to “speak mechanic” to improving fuel economy and seasonally-directed car care tips. To reach our features section, simply click on the Features Articles button on the Reference Library page. To read a specific article, click on the highlighted title line.
Browsing the News
Once you’ve configured your personal ProCarCare page, the daily news headlines will be automatically displayed on your page under the News of the Day heading. To read a particular story, click on its highlighted title line. Non-members can access the daily automotive news by clicking on the News link in the navigation bar to the left of the screen. The news can also be reached through the Reference Library and then by clicking on the News tab at the top of the screen.
You may change the criteria for the news that’s displayed daily on your ProCarCare page by selecting “Update my news profile” under the “My News” pull-down menu and clicking on the news categories you wish to add or delete. Then, click on Update My News Preferences to submit your changes. Although the news shown on your personal ProCarCare page changes daily, you can also browse all the news stories stored in the ProCarCare news archive by selecting clicking on the Reference Library link in the navigation bar at the left of your screen. Then click on the News tab at the top right of the page, then click on the “Search News” link. Fill in any keywords, news category or date range you want to search and click the Search button.
Using the Glossary and Car Care Encyclopedia
ProCarCare’s Reference Library contains two major reference sections, a Glossary of automotive terms which contains more than 400 terms and definitions, and the Car Care Encyclopedia -- an entire car care manual adapted from Chilton’s popular Easy Car Care. In this car care guide you will find extensive information about maintaining your car, plus detailed descriptions of your car’s major systems. To access either these two reference sections, click on the appropriate button on the Reference Library page.
Finding recalls and TSBs for your car
Registered ProCarCare members can read service bulletins, recall notices and Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for their vehicle simply by scrolling down their ProCarCare page to the appropriate heading. Only the most recent items are displayed on your ProCarCare page. To view all service bulletins, recalls, and TSBs, simply click on the appropriate heading. Alternatively, you can reach Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins from the Vehicle Vitals section. To learn more about recalls and TSBs, go to the Frequently Asked Questions page.
Finding recommended maintenance service schedules for your car
Every car maker publishes a recommended maintenance schedule for their cars. As recommended maintenance varies from model to model, it is wise to observe the recommended maintenance schedule for your car. The recommended maintenance schedule for your car is displayed on your ProCarCare page. The recommended maintenance for your vehicle is based upon mileage and the next due services are displayed on the screen. To read the details of these services simply click on the Recommend Services link on ProCarCare page or click on the mileage shown under the heading. You can also access recommended maintenance schedules for your car from the Vehicle Vitals section.
